Welcome and thank you for considering our Sixth Form courses
Here at Belle Vue Girls' School and Specialist Language College we have a strong tradition of catering for female students' needs for learning. our courses are offered at all levels from Entry to Level 3 so that students can make progress whatever their starting point; " Students applaud the very broad choice of courses." Ofsted 2005. We are proud of our record in helping students to achieve qualifications, employment and places in further and higher education. We have very strong links with local universities and pride ourselves on our ability to offer precise and detailed advice and guidance not only on a possible career but on the best route into a specific
Learning programmes are given generous time allocations. AS and A levels each have five hours teaching per week and main vocational programmes at Level 1 and Level 2 have fifteen hours. Main programmes are supplemented by courses which broaden student experience and opportunities. For example, Level 2 programmes in Health & Social Care include the opportunity either to study an additional AS level or to take part in weekly work experience leading to NVQ qualification. As a specialist language college all Level 3 students are given the opportunity to improve their skills in at least One foreign language from beginners to advanced.

All our students undergo specialist training designed to develop individual study skills and revision techniques and attend tutorial meetings to ensure they are getting the most from their studies. "Staff look at teaching from the point of view of the learner - assessment for learning, checking of understanding." Ofsted 2005.

Our Sixth Form is integrated into the main school for class accommodation and there is a bright, pleasant and well-equipped Common Room reserved for Sixth Form use only. The Sixth Form do not wear uniform and take a responsible, adult approach towards the younger students. Many act as Form Representatives and Prefects and give time voluntarily to help in reading schemes and other activities in the lower school.

The buildings and accommodation at Belle Vue Girls' are modern, attractive and well-equipped and the learning experience in the Sixth Form is one that can boast, on average, a seventy five per cent retention rate from Year 11. "Students appreciate their time at the school and the high quality of care they receive from their teachers, knowing that all staff give their time freely to support them."Ofsted 2005. So, if you believe we can make a positive difference to your academic career and your personal development, get in touch so we can show you around and discuss your future.
